Do you seek relief from the stress of daily living?
Do you "live in your head"?
Are you searching for embodiment in our disembodied culture?

Developed by Dr. Reggie Ray, "Meditating With The Body" presents meditation in a way that is uniquely suited to the needs of the modern world.

This form integrates classic sitting meditation with various methods of engaging directly with the deep stability and wisdom of your body-mind. This body of work steers the modern practitioner away from meditation simply as a mental exercise toward meditation that is directed somatically inward. These powerful practices are based mostly on the ancient teachings of Tibetan yoga.

Appropriate for beginning and experienced meditators.

I have been Reggie's student since 2008 and have completed a rigorous teacher training for this work. I am authorized by him and Dharma Ocean Foundation to teach these practices.

FELDENKRAIS-RELATED WORKSHOP: Investigating the Physical Body: The Upper Body & Core | Sheri Cohen

Investigating the Physical Body is an integrated approach to anatomy for yoga teachers and professionals in the fields of bodywork, movement arts and healthcare. Offered as part of Lotus Yoga’s 300 hour advanced teacher training, two Investigating the Physical Body modules will be offered each year.

Through lecture, discussion, experiential anatomy and partner work, students will be immersed in a holistic, systems-based approach to the moving body that applies to both static and dynamic yoga postures.

  • Leave with a deeper knowledge of the skeleton as a system, and the mechanics of healthy movement.
  • Understand the important role of the nervous system in coordinating movement.
  • Experience, and be able to talk to your students about, movement in terms of effort and quality in order to refine musculo-skeletal action and make asana more pleasurable and safe.
  • Refine useful cues and images to quickly guide your students toward improved alignment.
  • Become more proficient in identifying key bones and muscles of the body.
  • Carry with you tools to adapt a yoga practice that addresses your students’ diverse needs, including musculo-skeletal injury, illness, pregnancy, aging and improved performance in arts and sports.

2015 Modules:
The Upper Body and Core: February 20-22
