FELDENKRAIS WORKSHOP: Balance in Action-Heads Up!?! | LeeAnn Starovasnik

Carry your head high,

Increase your confidence and ease in your daily activities,

Reduce the risk of falling, and

Expand your possibilities now and for your future!

The carriage of your head is key to your comfort and safety in the world since you see, hear, smell and sense so much of the world around you from your head. The weight of the head is often compared to that of a bowling ball, how you carry your head contributes to your comfort or discomfort in your neck, back and shoulders and can contribute to your balance in walking, hiking and climbing stairs. During this workshop you will be invited to move in slow gentle ways, align with your center, sense and improve your balance as you sit, stand and walk.

Perfect for anyone who seeks relief from head, neck, shoulder pains or for those who would like to improve their balance in walking. No Feldenkrais experience necessary.

Early bird rate by 8/11/18: $50 each (in advance); single workshop $75 each; all three summer workshops $130 ($225 value!)

FELDENKRAIS WORKSHOP: Summer In-Town Feldenkrais Retreat | Sheri Cohen

Thursday, June 14, 12-3pm; Friday & Saturday, June 15 & 16, 10am-2pm
$300; Limited space available

The Summer In-Town Feldenkrais Retreat offers three days of gentle movement, awareness practice, self-care and restoration; a clean, quiet, comfortable space; an experienced teacher ... and you don't even have to travel to enjoy it! Our theme for this retreat will be: Exploring Dynamic Resilience. We often meet life's challenges with our own particular brand of machismo—we are tough guys, martyrs, stoics, deflectors, chameleons and more. These identities are often brittle shells that don't serve us in the long run. There is a correlate in our bodily experience in the many ways we compensate for perceived weaknesses, such as by over-efforting, or by relying on one leg to carry the burden of our whole weight. Through Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement, we'll encounter the unconscious ways in which we create unhelpful "protections," and allow our true strength to emerge from unencumbered movement.

FELDENKRAIS WORKSHOP: THE BALL, THE BOWL & THE SLINKY | Barbara Young

The Ball, The Bowl, and The Slinky: How the head, pelvis, and spine move us powerfully through life

Saturday & Sunday, 10am-4:30pm

Why is our skeleton designed the way it is? How do our muscles work to move us with grace, speed, and ease?

This Feldenkrais® workshop will bring clarity to these questions and more as we examine the three essential components needed for balance and fluid movement—the head, pelvis, and spine—and explore their integral relationship in early development.  This workshop will help you reclaim the vital relationship of your central core—a critical connection that allows you to move through life with speed and grace.  Complex material comes alive with simplicity and applications in everyday situations.  Through experiential exercises, video, discussion, and ATM, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of this intricate system and obstacles that hinder our growth moving toward thriving adulthood.

FELDENKRAIS WORKSHOP: Self Care for Back Comfort: An Introduction to the Feldenkrais Method | Sheri Cohen

Back pain has many causes, but most of them can be addressed with better self-usage. That means moving better through all the everyday movements in your life. This introductory workshop in the Feldenkrais Method will help you feel how your whole self participates in every movement, leading to more comfort in your back, and more freedom to do the things you want to do. This workshop is also appropriate for anyone interested in maintaining their already healthy movements and preventing injury.

Do you seek relief from the stress of daily living?
Do you "live in your head"?
Are you searching for embodiment in our disembodied culture?

Developed by Dr. Reggie Ray, "Meditating With The Body" presents meditation in a way that is uniquely suited to the needs of the modern world.

This form integrates classic sitting meditation with various methods of engaging directly with the deep stability and wisdom of your body-mind. This body of work steers the modern practitioner away from meditation simply as a mental exercise toward meditation that is directed somatically inward. These powerful practices are based mostly on the ancient teachings of Tibetan yoga.

Appropriate for beginning and experienced meditators.

I have been Reggie's student since 2008 and have completed a rigorous teacher training for this work. I am authorized by him and Dharma Ocean Foundation to teach these practices.
